We see a lot of hares here and with the advent of spring they’ve been quite active recently. I’ve always wanted to have a go at drawing one, so started with a sketch of this wee chap in a headshot.They never stand still long enough for me to photograph. Larger than rabbits and with black-tipped ears, they can run at up to 45mph. I can verify this after having one run ahead of me whilst driving! They have protected status, but are in decline and are still shot for ‘game’ and to ‘prevent serious damage to crops’ .
